New Hope Valley Railway, the Triangle’s Train, brings the beach to the railyard on Saturday, May 27, with its new Brew ‘n’ Choo Bonsal Beach Party.
The family-friendly event offers one-hour, diesel-powered train excursions along with festivities in the railyard including food, dessert, craft beer, local wine and live music.
Located 30 minutes southwest of downtown Raleigh, the first train during the May 27 Brew ‘n’ Choo departs at 3 p.m. followed by three other departure times at 4:15, 5:30 and 7 p.m. The food, drinks and entertainment begin around 3 p.m. and will last an hour after the last train ride returns to the station. A DJ will start the event with popular beach music, games, prizes and giveaways and the live band Last Band Standing will follow.
“Families who are staying close to home during Memorial Day weekend can visit our Triangle-area railyard for a fun and entertaining day. Ride the train and then enjoy the beach-themed food and festivities, which includes beach music and craft beer and wine for the adults,” said Trainmaster Dave Chasco, NHVR marketing director.
A beach-cookout menu including hotdogs, hamburgers, potato salad, coleslaw and baked beans will be available for purchase.
Train tickets cost $10-$12 and all visitors must purchase a train ticket to be admitted onto the grounds. Purchase tickets for adults, seniors (ages 60+) and children (ages 2-12) at www.TriangleTrain.com/buytickets. Children must always be accompanied by an adult and food and drinks are not included in the train ticket price.
NHVR is partnering with these on-site vendors and entertainers for the May 27 Brew ‘n’ Choo Bonsal Beach Party: Chef’s House, White Street Brewing Co., Doyle’s Vineyard, Iconic Productions DJ and Last Band Standing.
Other upcoming events at the railyard include Slow Down Sunday on June 11, a Brew ‘n’ Choo Luau on Saturday, June 24, and Military Appreciation Day on Sunday, July 9. The full 2017 ride schedule is at www.TriangleTrain.com/schedule.
